I was asked by Nikola Tosic to contribute to 'Something New' in Chicago on November 11th 2009. I decided to make a video about my son Michael learning to read — it seemed a little unfair, a little unbalanced if the pressure was entirely on his shoulders, so I set myself the task to learn Processing at the same time. The resulting film combines the voices of my father, Michael and myself. Three generations. Needless to say, Michael reads far better than I code.
Twenty people of different ages and different nationalities were interviewed in Milan, Italy in 2003. Each person was asked a similar set of questions around universal themes: family, love, travel, school, food.
A single narrative was constructed from all the interviews and presented as a nine-screen video installation in the Ta Matete Gallery in Rome.
